Thomas E. Cassidy papers, 1920-1933.

The correspondence deals rather extensively with the careers of these men, as well as constituting a melange of Cassidy history. A long biographical sketch of the career of James Cassety, dated May 23, 1922, is included in the correspondence, which sheds considerable light upon Revolutionary and post-Revolutionary Detroit.

Thomas E. Cassidy was an ardent student of his ancestral history, and in this pursuit carried on extensive correspondence with Clarence M. Burton and the Burton Historical Collection at the Detroit Public Library. Cassidy was a descendant of James Cassety, a Detroit Merchant, c. 1767-1779, and for a time half-owner of Belle Isle.
